Mister MaGoogle -- Wedding Pound Cake

Boy, I sure did! Is it true that men need only to look at a future mother-in-law to see the future of his bride? I should be so lucky. My Hubman and I met and married within four months. Didn't even have time to think about shedding the college weight from those late night feedings.

Enjoy the following videos. My machine of choice is the Treadles -- a modified treadmill which has a split tread so your feet are going up and down. My friend's hubby says we have to deduct half the calories if we hang on to the bar. I say, "Forget about it. I don't want to end up featured on Funniest Home Videos, plastered against the back wall." Have you ever tried walking and talking at the same time with your head turned?

BTW . . . Did you save your wedding cake topper and eat it on your first Anniversary? We did, and it was actually still good -- Bavarian Cream.

The history of wedding cakes goes back to the time of the Roman Empire. At that time, the cake was actually unsweetened bread made of flour, salt, and water. Yum. The bride and groom first tasted the cake and then it was broken over the head of the bride and groom, symbolizing happiness, prosperity and fertility for the couple. Guests vied for the crumbs as these were assumed to be tokens of good luck. Look out!

Later, guests invited to the wedding began to bring cake for the couple. All these cakes were piled up in front of the couple. Later still, the pile of cake was made into one and frosted. This gradually developed into the custom of making tiered wedding cakes. Thank you, Mr. Google.

Neither Kaymee nor Brian like cake, so we had several different kinds of cheesecake arrranged very nicely on tiered stands. A big hit. Who doesn't like cheesecake?
