. . . that today is Chewing Gum Day? Chew some gum to celebrate the birthday of William Wrigley Jr., the man who brought us "pure chewing satisfaction." Trivia buffs: To grow all the mint Wrigley needs for its mint-flavored gums requires 53 square miles of farmland -- about 30,550 football fields! What's your gum of choice? Is it true that it takes 7 years to digest swallowed gum? That's what I was told growing up. My sister chewed gum constantly and had lots of cavities. I rarely chew it and have never had a cavity -- in my whole life, or at least so far. Chew on that.
